Currently writing a serial Scandinavian LOTR styled fantasy novel, where at the start all seems peaceful as a small shire-esque village welcomes back a prodigal daughter of the village. The party is broken up by a mystery man presaging doom and death, and warning them to hand over the Map to the Darkspire so that this sets off a chain of events leading to death, betrayal, tragedy and of course love and heroism.

“The Rift of Santa Rosa” is a weird-Western fantasy based from the Prompt Quest!

After a woman unexpectedly goes into labor in a magical subterranean cavern, she must find a way to get herself and her baby out safely.

Thank you for this! I’m been sharing a fantasy serial on my substack, inspired by Dragon-Month which was hosted by The Brothers Krynn. Wingswept: The Dragon and the Dove is a tale of a heartbroken maiden who begins to find that the dragons without echo the dragons within - will the dragon-blood that keeps her alive actually be her downfall?

Much of my Substack is taken up with the ongoing (serialised) saga of a girl called Katrina from a parallel world. She thinks her world is a utopia and this one is a dystopia. The 'powers-that-shouldn't-be' are somewhat concerned about her presence in this world, and so there'll be a lot of covert intrigue going on, as well as a load of somewhat postmodern irony, pop-culture referencing, and humour, not to mention a fair amount of misadventurous action.

Version 1 of the (I guess I could call it) origin story is a self-contained novella, my intro to which starts here:

https://open.substack.com/pub/inadifferentplace/p/d-zero-meson-oscillation?r=2s9hod&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Each episode has a link to the next episode at the end, so navigation is easy. I will hopefully be serialising the final version soon, which will be much, much longer (like, 12 books worth or something). You can also read Katrina's offbeat online journal on the Substack, and various of her other ramblings (the 'liberal socialism' section).

Enjoy! (I hope)

Would it be absolutely mad of me to say I have two serials going on at the same time right now? It might well be, but it's also the truth. I've shared The Castle on the Hill here before, so let's go with the newer one this time.

The Jarl's Son is a pulp inspired dark fantasy that acts as a follow-up to my second serial, In the Giant's Shadow. In it, we follow the wandering warrior woman Gaiur as she comes to the coastal city Halvfjord, where she attempts to save a young boy from a terrible affliction whilst also trying to determine the truth behind the nightmare that's plagued her for weeks.

Hi! I'm Robin George and I'm writing an anthology of short stories under "Tales of the Godswood" on my Substack Modern Myths and Monsters.

The stories take place in a world, near to our own, where the gods of old compete for power and influence with mortals caught in the crossfire. They follow a wide range of characters - including a Tax Collector, a Necromancer, a trying to retire Adventuring swordsman, and a Wizard whose greatest talent is running from danger. And of course, Apollo and Fenrir, who are about to have a throw down the likes of which this world hasn't seen in a thousand years.

I'm currently working on a series on my Substack called "The Golden Fleece". Just as he frees himself from his inherited debts, a deeply depressed Jason finds himself in love with a woman from a 17th Century painting from his boss’s collection. It's got a little magical realism, a little urban fantasy, and draws heavy inspiration from the Grecian myth of the same name. I'd like to think that it's a blend of "The Drop", "Time to Hunt", and "Drive".

Bigheart’s life as a lowly farm boy takes a predictable turn for the heroic when an ancient prophecy reveals him to be the chosen one who will overthrow the tyrannical Lord Gravedeath and restore peace to the realm. With a motley crew that includes a wizard with no powers, identical twins who the author usually forgets to write lines for, and a sarcastic and beautiful female character whose sole purpose is to sexually frustrate him, Bigheart must journey to the outer reaches of the realm to reach the Object of Great Power before Lord Gravedeath does, in this loving parody of the fantasy genre.
