I’m very grateful to have read so many talented speculative authors this past year. Our community has grown tremendously, and I’m encouraged to see more newsletters popping up in recent months that are a part of a collective effort to celebrate fiction subgenres. Together we are creating spaces that lift up writers, both new and seasoned, and we’re finding ways to succeed as independent authors without the need for traditional publishers.
Many thanks to those of you who have written stories and participated in the award seasons, commented on essays, interviews and reviews, and who have shared in efforts to spread the word. I wish all of you a Happy New Year and a warm and welcoming 2024. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of fiction loving misfits just like me.
Paid subscribers to the Lunar Awards have made financial contributions that helped me provide monetary rewards for each season. This has been a special contribution, and helped affirm the Lunar Awards is beneficial, and that the writing and reading of fantasy and science fiction are a worthwhile endeavor. As a special gift you’ll find a link to the Lunar Awards 2023 Omnibus below the paywall.
The omnibus includes a letter from the editor (that would be me), our readership survey results, linked lists of all participants and their stories for each award season, and a science fiction short story I wrote just for this occasion.
I’ll see you on the flip side of the calendar. God bless.
Sincerely,
Brian Reindel
