Well, this wasn't the story I was planning to write/submit for this season, but it's the one I've got ready to go. Literally came to me in the middle of the night 😅
One thing I'll note is that because you're helping choose a pumpkin patch, you can't choose your own story... or else Peg might send a man with disturbing priorities to visit you.
In the near future, where all beings we care about have digital twins monitoring their health, a dog's unexpected vet visit reveals how technology transforms the bond between humans and their animal companions.
“Your dog's digital twin has got me worried” is a part of the Practical Futures series, envisioning everyday products and services reshaping the near future of our daily lives.
It does seem weird. Last season had the lowest participation yet and open rates are definitely down as well. Although that's never been a great metric. We'll see how it goes as we get closer.

Hello, this is my entry! It's only 500 words, but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. Would this qualify for the Pumpkin Patch too?

To qualify for the pumpkin patch, it would need to include elements of speculative horror or focus on Halloween.
I am not sure if this fits a 100 % with the horror theme of this season but it has macabre tones, my very first attempt at writing such a story.

Is there a theme for this one or is it horror speculative? I felt like I read everything but want to be sure. I feel like I missed it.
Hi Jessica, no theme. Anything speculative will do, but if it's horror speculative then it can also be considered for a pumpkin patch. 🎃
I do love the pumpkin patch!
Thanks!
Hi Brian, here's my entry - lightly macabre. Thank you as always for hosting.

Does that seem weird? That seems weird to me.
Don't count your pumpkins before they . . . patch . . . I guess.
