Thanks! That’s partially why I had it on the back-burner for so long as it always felt more like an idea rather than a story. Maybe I’ll explore it more soon. I appreciate your encouragement.
Well, this was the absolute best way to start a day that I can think of. 🤩💫✨
Thank you, Brian, for the opportunity you created for all of us hard working fiction writers. The Lunar Awards WILL gain traction because it's a fantastic thing, and next season will no doubt have you swamped with award worthy entries. As I will not be eligible to enter again for a while, please let me know if you need an extra pair of reading eyes for Season Two. I'm becoming awfully fond of speculative fiction, and am eager to read more from the people who are writing it! Starting with the list your contest provided. Another win! 🏆
You never know, you might have a new career genre! You can add a fifth novel to the four you're already pitching 😁 Also, regarding helping with the next Lunar Awards season, that would be amazing. I will end up emailing you a couple versions of the winner's badge that you can use wherever you like, and that will appear on the Past Winner's page. When I do, I'll throw some ideas at you, and if you think it's a good fit, we'll get a process going.
Believe it or not, I have an idea for a speculative novel, based on a short story that's currently languishing in contest limbo elsewhere. At some point, I'll probably yank it back and put it on my Substack, because I really like it. If it becomes a novel, it will actually be my sixth. 😉But I imagine novels to be like children. Once you get past three you start to lose track of how outnumbered you are by your progeny. 🤪
If novels are really like children, I should be in jail for negligence because all five of mine have been locked in my basement since their creation. Only recently have I started dusting them off, fattening them up, and letting them go outside into the dangerous world we've created for them. 😂 I feel like there's a longer story to be told in this metaphor.
And also congrats to you Brian for completing the first season of your Lunar Awards. It’s been a pleasure following along from the start up to now. Thank you also for all the reading you prepared for us! I’m curious about all and I’ll compare my notes with yours once I’m done reading!
Congratulations to Meg and all of the participants! Great job, Brian, for a successful Lunar Awards takeoff and landing.
Thank you, Winston! I felt like "Sword of the Sky" is a novel waiting to happen. There is an extensive world there waiting to be explored. 🤩

If novels are like children, I have none, and I'm jealous of all of the other "parents" 🤣
