So, I've been trying to track down the stories that are being posted for these prompts. So far, I've only found stories for the sf prompt...I suspect that is the one that speaks to the current zeitgeist. Many of those stories, of course, are rather dystopian.
Im pretty sure I'm doing this wrong....as a complete substack novice, but here is a link to my quest prompt #2 submission - is this even the right place Brian.... have pity on me..
Hey Nick! You can definitely post it here, but you can post it this upcoming Wednesday in our discussion thread, which is called The Gathering. I specifically run it two weeks after the prompt so we all have an opportunity to read these from a single location and discuss the exercise.
Actually, for Prompt Quest it can be any length. However, if you want to submit it as an entry to the next season of the Lunar Awards, then it must be 2500 words or less. Some people will write a separate story for submission to the season for that reason. Totally depends on what you prefer.
You can do it, Garen! I went with the fantasy last time, and I'm thinking I'm going to go with the science fiction this time. I just need to figure out that pesky ending. 😁
Hey Jessica, you're correct, go ahead and publish on your Substack and feel free to mention this post, and then when the two weeks are up, I'll post a discussion thread where we can all post links to our stories and discuss. I'm glad you like the prompts!
The last quest was a blast. I look forward to reading all the strange and wonderful stories from this one. The first prompt looks especially delectable.
Very intriguing sci-fi challenge. 👏
Thanks, Claudia, there are a lot of different angles someone could take with it, and the options are running through my writerly brain as well! 😁
Phew, these are both rather bloodthirsty prompts… not sure I can come up with something, but never say never, right?
You can do it, Leanne!

Here's a bit of news that will cheer you up, if you're at all concerned about AI taking over the world. Cheyenne, Wyoming is my hometown. They are soon to elect a new mayor. One of those in the running is VIC, an AI bot created by the folks at OpenAI. (As Dave Barry was always so fond of saying, "I am not making this up"): https://oilcity.news/general/2024/06/05/yes-artificial-intelligence-is-running-for-mayor-of-cheyenne-city-county-clerks-comment-on-candidate-vic/?utm_source=aiweekly&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=06112024&utm_term=editorial
Oh I do so love being prompted. I have just posted mine, in good time, so I shall supply the link on Wednesday, rather than show off here. (winky eye)
I just posted my first ever story for this. I'm very excited to read through what everyone else came up with!

great! i think i put a link to lunar quest at the end of my post rather than linking my post in your post... such a dinosaur...
i cant quite get it to 2500 words... is 2640 too many Brian? its taken me a week to get it down from 4500...

I’ll share this with my sci-fi writing group.
Thank you for sharing!
I'm a fantasy writer, but the science fiction prompt this time around has me intrigued. Might be time to dip my toe into a new genre...

Just to be clear, we publish these stories on our substack? I forget. Also, both these prompts are so amazing.

Thanks, Sam! It will be fun to see what everyone contributes. I enjoyed putting these together.
I think settings apply across all Substacks for inbox vs. app, but even if you didn't change anything recently, I'm glad you saw it!
